As you may, or may not know, the Legends Summer Show is just around the corner. I’m delighted to be back as compere for my second season at The Sands.
There have been a lot of changes in the line-up for this year, so I’m no longer classed as ‘the new boy’, which takes a bit of pressure off.
The new cast members this year are:
Jed Fry as Tom Jones
Ed Jackson as Michael Jackson
Tommy Holland as Elvis Presley
Emma Wright (who played Lady Gaga last Summer) returns as Amy Winehouse this year, as well as doubling-up as Lady Gaga on selected nights. We also welcome back the divine Leanne Fury, who is returning as Lady Gaga following her maternity leave.
The returning cast members are:
Gary Ryan as Neil Diamond
Matt Byrne as Robbie Williams
Dean Richardson as Freddie Mercury
There are also four new dancers this Summer – Alice Alcock, Georgina Francis, Kimberley Brightcliffe and Lindsay McKinstry are all back for the season, having cut their teeth in the Easter Show.
I’ve just got home from rehearsing with the girls, under the direction of Assistant Choreographer, Lindsey Alexander. We’ve been working on the Act 1 and Act 2 Opening Numbers for Show 1, and I think you’re all going to enjoy them (even if it’s just from laughing at my attempt at dancing). We’ve upped the ante this year with the opening numbers, so make sure you’re in your seats in plenty of time – you’re not gonna want to miss these!
So, with all that in mind, plus the added bonus of live music from The Legends Orchestra, under the direction of Richard Chance, and choreography from Wendy Hollands, it’s shaping-up to be another fantastic season.
We head into the final phase of rehearsals on Monday, and open Show 1 on Thursday. We’re then back on Sat & Sun, then Wednesday 21st, before switching to Show 2 on Thursday 22nd.
